Q: Why do so many people continue to believe that female ejaculation is really urine?
A: Until today female ejaculation has never openly been discussed and for the most part it wasn't even acknowledged.  It was something to fear and for women to be ashamed of.  If a female gushed fluids during sex she was urinating.  After all, we all know that women don't cum like that right?

Sadly, it's human nature to fear those things we don't understand.

I'm going to hazard a guess and say that the majority of people denying the existence of FE are either a) male, with no first hand knowledge or experience with it or b) female, non-ejaculating.  Even Masters and Johnson, the primary leader of the opposition in this debate have since mellowed and now admit that 'some' females can ejaculate.

I'm also reminded of a message board posting I saw once on an Ivy League University message board which asked about the 'political implications' of female ejaculation.  Not one single person dared post a reply.

It's going to take time, funding, and a lot of public education but ultimately change will happen.

Q: Why does it take me so long to ejaculate during sex?
A: My personal experience indicates that there are 2 factors that can affect a female's ability to ejaculate or her ability to ejaculate in a timely fashion.

The first is mental.  We are raised in a society that tells us that women don't ejaculate, so if you're aroused, having sex, and feel something start to happen our subconscious yells "Oh no I'm going to pee!" and we stop it.  You may read on other sites that fixing this is as easy as simply letting it go, but it isn't.  Our minds are very powerful things and we may have to teach ourselves to allow this to happen.  Please see the section on " How to Ejaculate" for helpful advice and teaching techniques.

The second thing that come in to play is quite simply not being sufficiently aroused.  Depending on what's being done that can take some time.  Again, you can check the section on "How to Ejaculate" for helpful advice.

Q:   I keep getting that "feeling" but nothing happens?  Why?
A: Like the question above, there could be several reasons.  The first is that you aren't relaxing the right parts of your body.  As I've said before, this is very difficult to learn if you have a strong mental block.

Please see the section on "How to Ejaculate" for helpful advice and teaching techniques.

One other possibility is that you may be one of those females whose ejaculate travels back up into their bladders instead of being released.  I'm not a doctor and I can't say with any certainty but I don't think further efforts would be futile.

I would suggest keep trying.  Keep practicing urethra relaxation and above all, don't get too frustrated.  Even if you don't end up ejaculating your efforts and what you're learning about your body will almost certainly improve your sex life.

Q: I'm afraid of peeing but I really want to ejaculate?  What can I do?
A: I think this is a normal fear for women.  It's important not only to try and relax about it but to give yourself permission to pee if that's what happens.  And if it does, so what?  Just laugh and try again next time.

One of the most important things, especially if you are attempting this with a partner, is communication.  I'm sure if you express your fears to them they'll tell you what I just did.  Try it and if you oops, oh well, try again.

This dialogue will not only put your mind at ease but will enhance your communication with your partner and ultimately your relationship.

Q: Why does female ejaculate taste sweet?
A: Female ejaculate tastes sweet because it contains two different kinds of natural sugars; glucose and fructose.

This was determined by chemical analysis.

Q: Why do I have such a hard time peeing after ejaculating?
A: You're not alone, especially if your ejaculation was triggered by g-spot manipulation.

Often, even though you can feel your bladder and know you have to pee, it's nearly impossible.  It's most likely being caused by irritation of the urethra (from all the activity).  Just walking away for a few minutes will most often fix the problem.

Q: Can all women do this?
A: At this point in time no-one knows.  Various studies have returned with various results.  The numbers somewhere between 10% and 70%+.

There has not been nearly enough research done on this subject to be able to answer this question properly however, my personal opinion is that the majority of women are capable of ejaculating.

Whether or not they do I feel would in large part be determined by their knowledge of FE, and their willingness to allow it to happen.

Q:   Should the penis (fingers etc) be in or out for the best ejaculation?
A:   I once read somewhere that for the best "squirts" you should remove the fingers or penis.  And certainly if you ever checked squirting porn you'll notice that they almost always remove them.

If it's important to you to be able to shoot farther than by all means give it a go.

I however equate this to a male hitting the point of ejaculation and then stopping all stimulation.  What a boring orgasm that would be.

After doing more research on this subject I've decided to try and come up with an answer, either through experimentation myself or that combined with input from my website visitors.  If you have any input you would like to contribute please contact me.

Q:   How long can a woman keep ejaculating once she starts?
A:   I don't think this has ever really been researched and it's an interesting question.

Women's opinions vary.  I have heard however that a woman can keep ejaculating until it becomes too much for her and she stops the stimulation.  I tend to believe this.

I've been able to ejaculate between 7 and 10 times in a very short time period.  And apparently the record is 46 spurts in under an hour.  That's a lot.

As long as it's not physically uncomfortable and you want to keep going I don't see why you shouldn't.  Perhaps even let me know the results.

Q:   Can I learn how to do this?
A:   I believe anyone can learn how to do this.  And some may not even have to learn but simply just go with what they already know.

The bigger question is, can everyone ejaculate and for that there's no answer.  I've said before and I'll say again that you have nothing to lose by trying.  You will learn more about your body, possibly strengthen your relationship and have a lot of fun trying.

You can get instructions in our How To Ejaculate section.

Q:   Can women get dehydrated from squirting too much?
A:   The short answer is yes, I've had it happen.

Any time that a person, male or female, loses a large amount of fluid they risk dehydration.

The easiest way to tell if you are dehydrated is by the color of your urine.  If it's dark yellow  then you need fluid.  Of course other things can cause this (and then you should see your doctor) but if you've just had a very wet sex filled night keep an eye on the color the next day.  If its dark it's important that you re-hydrate.  As you put fluids back in your body you should notice the color lighten again.

Additionally, a rule we now have in our home, is that if I'm going to be gushing that night I push the fluids during the day before it happens.

Not only does this help avoid dehydration but it will help your body create the fluid you need to ejaculate.  I've also had it happen where my fluids were down and I only ejaculated a small amount.

And even if you don't ejaculate, it's a smart health rule to drink a lot of water every day anyway.

Q:   What is the difference between FE, squirting and gushing?
A:   In the most basic terms they all mean exactly the same thing.

A full explanation is available in our Glossary but in short, squirting and gushing are two different ways that women ejaculate.  Squirting has become the 'cool' term associated with female ejaculation.

Q:   Why don't people talk about this?  Why won't women admit to it?
A:   There are many ignorant people out there who continue to believe that female ejaculation is nothing more than a female urinating during sex.

It's true what they say - ignorance is dangerous.

This lack of information has, in some cases, attached a stigma to female ejaculation.  Women may feel dirty if they ejaculate and have doubts about it being ejaculate instead of urine.  Women may fear other people's response.

Some women may not even know they ejaculate and believe they really do in fact urinate during sex.  I fear the number of women falling into this category is way too high.

When it comes to female ejaculation we need to do some serious public awareness work.  We need to educate those are uneducated on the subject and we need to begin discussing it openly.  This is especially true since there is a health related danger, that women may face unnecessary and even dangers drug treatment or surgery, to correct it.

I feel this alone is a very worthy reason for government to step in and begin funding further research.

Q:   Why aren't there any new studies being done?
A:   I've read several different reasons.

The first reason is funding.  It simply isn't there and funding sources haven't been given a good reason to start throwing money into this.  I'm hoping with public awareness on the potential health issues this will change.

Secondly is ethical.  In order for doctors or scientists to properly research female ejaculation they will need to not only arouse their patients but bring them to orgasm.  For some this is simply going too far.

There have been studies where samples were delivered but of course, the skeptics then attacked the validity of the samples.  There have been other studies where subjects ejaculated in a laboratory setting but in order to gather the samples the women were catheterized, flawing the study.

It's just a matter of time until all these issues are corrected and science gets the answers they're looking for.  In the meantime we simply have to educate and wait.
